Royal Family: Prince Harry and William headed for peace talks despite snub at funeral

A royal expert claims Meghan Markle was the centre of attention during the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's trip to Colombia this month - leaving Prince Harry out cold on the sidelines.

Harry and Meghan both received a stately welcome during their four-day trip to Colombia at the invitation of the vice president, Francia Márquez. However, royal insiders claim the trip was "all about Meghan".

Speaking on True Royalty TV's 'The Royal Beat', Matt Wilkinson, the royal editor for The Sun, said: "Harry looked a little bit grumpy. May I use his vocabulary - he perhaps looked a bit like ‘the spare!’."

A royal expert believes there is a clear timeline to when Prince Harry will try and resume some royal duties and “build bridges,” with his brother Prince William.

Speaking with the Mirror, royal pundit and author Tom Quinn claims that “Harry still has vague hopes that he will be forgiven and will be offered a minor role somewhere".

And that there is a “real danger that Harry will feel lost,” without the structure of Royal duties, which could lead to him trying to rekindle relations with his brother, and the wider family, in the hope of being able to resume minor commitments.

A royal expert has highlighted a similarity between the charity work conducted by Queen Camilla and Princess Diana, believing the late Princess of Wales set "the groundwork".Speaking on True Royalty TV's 'The Royal Beat' show, ITV News Royal Editor Chris Ship spoke of Camilla and her good work in supporting victims of domestic abuse.

He said: "There were [commonalities] with the sort of pioneering path that Diana took. All the work that Queen Camilla [as she is now] and previously as the Duchess of Cornwall has done on domestic violence is phenomenal because it's an issue that also lives in the shadows."

The relations between Prince Harry and Prince William appear to remain icy despite their latest in-person meeting at a ceremony earlier this week.

The vicar who held the funeral reception for Lord Robert Fellowes, who was their mother, Princess Diana's brother-in-law, said he does not recall seeing the royal brothers speaking to each other.

Prince Harry flew from his home in the US to join his brother at St Mary's Church in Snettisham, Norfolk and the memorial service took place close to the royal Sandringham Estate.

Reverand Tansey told the Sun: "It was only as I was greeting the congregation on the way out that Prince William was shaking my hand, and then very quickly after Prince Harry did too.

He commented on the lack of interaction between the two brothers at the reception afterwards: "I don’t recollect them speaking to each other but there were a lot of family members and friends speaking to them."

This unlikely royal has been tipped as the possible catalyst for a reunion between estranged brother's, Prince Harry and Prince William.

This week saw a rare reunion between the two brothers, as they came together to mourn the loss of their uncle, Robert Fellowes.

The solemn event marked their first meeting in over a year, for their father's Coronation in May.

The late Lord Fellowes, who passed away last month, was married to Lady Jane Spencer, the sister of the princes' mother, Diana. He also served as the private secretary to the late Queen. And Lady Jane - along with two other family members - have been pinpointed as the unlikely trio who could stop the ongoing feud between the Duke of Sussex and Prince of Wales.

Insiders say access to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's four-day tour of Colombia was restricted and readers only saw a snapshot of activity.

The Montecito-based couple visited Colombia at the invitation of the country’s vice-president, Francia Márquez, and primarily their visit was about promoting their charity work focused on trying to make the internet safer for children.

Speaking on The Royal Beat, on True Royalty TV, the royal editor of The Sun explained how footage outside of the press pool, taken by others, showed a different perspective of the tour.

Matt Wilkinson said: "When you saw the footage that was filmed by people at the dinners or people who were there that weren't part of this press pool, they showed a slightly different picture. Harry looked a little bit grumpy. May I use his vocabulary - he perhaps looked a bit like 'the spare'."

James Wessex is proving somewhat of a hit with the girls at neighbouring schools, Express.co.uk has learned.

According to a well-placed source, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh's 16-year-old son, who attends Radley College in Abingdon, has caught the eye of girls at nearby Downe House, Heathfield and St. Mary's School Ascot.

"Radley and Ascot have quite a thing going on and the girls there have a competition going to see who can bag James first," said the source. "Lady Louise used to go to Ascot so some of the girls already know him..."

While the world of the Royal Family may seem miles apart from that of everyday Britons, there is something that brings the whole country together - silly little nicknames.

Prince Phillip is reported to have called the late Queen Elizabeth II 'Cabbage' as well as to have used the name 'Lilibet', believed to have been also widely adopted by the late monarch's parents. The latter nickname inspired Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to name their daughter Lillibet, albeit upon announcing her birth they suggested she would be normally called Lili.

Prince Andrew has become a "bit of a recluse" amid an ongoing dispute with King Charles over the tenancy of Royal Lodge, a royal commentator has claimed.

Charlotte Griffiths, the editor at large for the Mail on Sunday, offered her views on the stalemate during an episode of Palace Confidential. And she suggested that a new Amazon documentary could make matters worse for the "disgraced" Duke.

Prince Harry still expects a “grovelling apology” from William and Kate, according to a royal expert.

In March, the Princess of Wales revealed she was undergoing cancer treatment after it was found following abdominal surgery in January, which kept her away from public duties and appearances.

As she confirmed her health update via a moving video address, it was thought that she and Prince William might expect a visit from Prince Harry.

Meghan Markle has reportedly become "very close" to a host of new friends in the US - including Bumble founder Whitney Wolfe Herd and IT Cosmetics co-founder Jamie Kern Lima.

Reflecting on the Duchess of Sussex's inner circle, a source previously told US Weekly that the former actress has "a great group of friends who are all successful in their own ways who she really trusts".

Meghan Markle appears to be taking a note from the Princess of Wales's style book as she harnesses the 'Meghan-effect'.

The 43-year-old was spotted carrying a bag by Strathberry in 2017 - the very start of her royal journey - that ended up selling out just 11 minutes after the photos of the former actress emerged online.

Richard Eden, a columnist at the Daily Mail, said in his weekly newsletter that there were two pieces of "good news" for King Charles from Harry this week.

The paperback edition of Spare comes out in October but, to the surprise and relief of many royal watchers, the publisher Penguin Random House revealed that the "new edition will not feature any fresh material".

Prince William and Prince Harry could reportedly be headed for "peace talks" ahead of the Duke's 40th birthday on September 15.

The Duke of Sussex previously celebrated his 30th birthday with a party hosted by the Princess of Wales at her 22-room apartment at Kensington Palace.

Aside from his strained relationship with Prince William, the 39-year-old is said to "miss" his sister-in-law and is said to be hoping to "catch up with her and see how everything is".

The ongoing feud between Prince William and Prince Harry may be irreparable, with one specific issue at the heart of their discord, suggests a royal expert. The brothers seem to have cut ties following Harry's decision to step down from Royal duties and start a new life in California with his wife, Meghan Markle.

The release of Harry's contentious memoir, 'Spare', in January 2023 further strained relations as he levelled accusations against his family. In the explosive book, Harry claimed that Prince William labelled his wife as 'difficult', 'rude' and 'abrasive', and even accused him of pushing him into a dog bowl.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may have broken free from the constraints of senior Royal life, but that doesn't mean their journey has been without its bumps.

Since their Royal departure, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have dabbled in a variety of new ventures, including launching a Spotify podcast, producing a Netflix documentary series, and most recently, Meghan's foray into the luxury lifestyle market with the introduction of American Riviera Orchard. However, this move is reported to have ruffled the feathers of culinary veteran Martha Stewart.

King Charles and his younger brother Prince Andrew have been embroiled in a months-long stalemate over the tenancy of the 30-room Royal Lodge on the Windsor Park estate.

Last year, it emerged that the Duke of York, 64, was struggling to meet the £400,000-a-year upkeep costs of the £30million property. The King has reportedly been eager to end his private funding for security on the estate and move Andrew into smaller lodgings.

Meghan Markle is said to have had a tearful response after courtiers blamed her for Prince Harry's royal departure back in 2020.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced their plan to step down as senior working royals in January 2020, with their final engagement as members of the family taking place just two months later. The pair then moved to the US with their young son shortly after their departure.
