A royal expert believes there is a clear timeline to when Prince Harry will try and resume some royal duties and “build bridges,” with his brother Prince William.

Speaking with the Mirror, royal pundit and author Tom Quinn claims that “Harry still has vague hopes that he will be forgiven and will be offered a minor role somewhere".

And that there is a “real danger that Harry will feel lost,” without the structure of Royal duties, which could lead to him trying to rekindle relations with his brother, and the wider family, in the hope of being able to resume minor commitments.

Quinn has drawn comparisons between the Sussexes and exiled royals Edward VII and Wallis Simpson, whose decision to marry caused a crisis for the royal family, as the king abdicated in 1936.

After their marriage, and the stripping of their royal duties, the two lived in France in what Quinn describes as a “beautiful home,” despite the couple being “desperately unhappy,” at his lack of royal involvement.

“Even Edward VIII, after the abdication, was given a few minor roles. And Harry will be aware of that." With Quinn believing that could leave the door open for Harry to be a “Part-time royal.”

He also added that if palace officials are allowed to have their way, “it will never happen," with a lot of work having to be done to rebuild relationships.

The Sussexes announced their decision to emigrate to the US in January 2020, as they eschewed royal responsibilities in the hope of building a business and media empire in California.

The couple have rarely been back to the UK, in part due to coronavirus restrictions brought in shortly after their move.

The Duke of Sussex did fly from his home in the US to join William, at the funeral service for Lord Robert Fellowes, their mother Diana’s brother-in-law, yesterday.

The two were said to have sat discreetly at the back of the church in Snettisham, Norfolk and were not seen to speak with each other.

It is thought the couple will not routinely return to the UK due to safety concerns as they no longer have access to the taxpayer-funded security afforded to acting members of the royal family.

However, unlike Edward VII, Harry and Meghan are free to return to the UK without needing any permission from the reigning monarch.

It is thought Harry is ‘under pressure’ for his wife Meghan Markle to maintain a relationship with his family. Royal expert Quinn said that relationships will be maintained “if only for the sake of the couples’ new ventures,” and commercial exploits.

The couple’s net worth is estimated to be £47 million ($60 million), however they have launched a number of business ventures in the hope of maintaining their luxury lifestyle in Montecito, California.
