Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are said to not want to share pictures of their two children due to their security fears over them.

The couple welcomed their first child, a son named Prince Archie - now aged five - in 2019. The pair welcomed Princess Lilibet - now aged three - in 2021. Moving to the US when Archie was less than a year-old, the family of four now reside in Montecito, California.

Speaking to US Weekly about the couple's decision to keep their children out of the spotlight, a close friend of Meghan said: "I think every parent wants to share their kid with the world, but they just can't.

"[Prince] William's kids, for example, have way more safety, even though they're recognisable."

Meghan's friend continued: "And the same doesn't apply to Meghan and Harry's children. They know the world wants to see [them but] I would expect them to live smaller lives until that gets sorted, if it ever does."

Prince Harry has previously been very vocal about his fears over his lack of security when visiting the UK.

Speaking last month on ITV documentary Tabloids on Trial, Harry also opened about his concerns for his wife's safety if she joined him in the UK.

On the show, the father of two explained: "All it takes is one lone actor, one person who reads this stuff, to act on what they have read, and whether that is a knife or acid… they are genuine concerns for me, they are one of the reasons I won't bring my wife back to this country."

Like their mum, Archie and Lilibet also last visited the UK in 2022. The children, then aged one and three, travelled to the UK with Harry and Meghan to celebrate the late Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

Although the couple have not released many photographs of Archie and Lilibet, their children did feature in their Netflix docuseries back in December 2022.

The six-episode series Harry & Meghan featured home videos of both Archie and Lilibet growing up - including a clip of Lilibet's first steps.

Fans also got to see clips during Meghan's pregnancy with their daughter, Archie baking with Meghan's niece Ashleigh and photographs of a newborn Lilibet.
