Wheel of Fortune fans fume over 'ridiculous' final puzzle as player loses huge jackpot
A Wheel of Fortune player missed out on taking home a massive cash prize thanks to a fiendish final puzzle.

Wheel of Fortune player Richard missed out on a £20,000 prize after failing to guess a rather obscure food item.
This week, host Graham Norton welcomed players Yemi, Richard and Aimee to a brand new series of the revived game show on ITV.
Following a challenging competition, in which Yemi bagged herself a holiday and Richard won a £2,000 Aldi voucher, it was the latter who came out on top.
Unfortunately, the final round proved too challenging as none of the vowels or consonants he selected were present in the cryptic puzzle, which was the hidden name for a type of food or drink.
When the answer “prawn gyoza” was revealed, Graham couldn’t help but feel sorry for the finalist, though viewers at home weren’t too impressed.
One X user wrote: “How ridiculous was that? I never heard of prawn whatsit or whatever it was called!”

Another viewer raged: “Prawn gyozo (sic)? No wonder he didnt get it! He could have had all but one letter & probably still not get it!
“Is that ITV's way of saving money by making the final puzzle so tricky to get even someone at Mensa would struggle on?”
Someone else quipped sarcastically: “Prawn Gyoza. Well that would have been on the tip of my tongue.”

“Prawn gyoza? They’re having a laugh! Poor Richard deserved that win and was totally done over,” a fourth posted.
And a final fan expressed disbelief: “What the f**k is a Prawn Gyoza?????”
Gyoza are Japanese-style dumplings that can be steamed or pan-fried and come with a variety of fillings.

However, Richard may not have been thinking about Asian cuisine as he initially assumed the answer was “brown something”, as he only had the ‘R’ and ‘N’ in the first line to go on.
Despite the disappointment of losing out on £20,000 Richard, a funeral celebrant, didn't walk away empty-handed.
He managed to rack up an impressive haul of £8,400 as well as his sizable supermarket voucher, which he was clearly thrilled with.
Wheel of Fortune airs Saturdays at 8pm on ITV and is available to stream on ITVX.
