'Masterpiece' thriller hailed 'best since Game of Thrones' streaming in hours
UK fans can stream the Emmy-winning show on Disney Plus
A 'masterpiece' book adaptation that secured 15 Emmy Awards has recently arrived at a new UK streaming destination.
The six-series programme is adapted from a cherished Margaret Atwood novel, which has likewise claimed its portion of literary accolades.
We are, naturally, talking about The Handmaid's Tale, which will become available to stream on Disney Plus from Wednesday (April 8). The programme's Disney premiere coincides with its sequel, The Testaments, arriving on the platform.
For those who overlooked the drama while it was broadcasting, it is situated in a dystopian society where women are property of the state. By law, the women are compelled into restricted roles, including sexual servitude to repopulate an increasingly infertile world.
Despite its weighty themes, the 2017 series rapidly cultivated a dedicated fanbase. It secured 15 Primetime Emmy Awards, with its cast members frequently being nominated for prestigious accolades, reports the Mirror.

This should hardly be surprising considering the ensemble featured Elisabeth Moss in the principal role of June Osborne. She appeared alongside fellow distinguished actors, including Max Minghella and Madeline Brewer.
Alongside critical acclaim, the drama also garnered overwhelming praise from viewers. Audiences on Rotten Tomatoes bestowed the first series a stellar 90% score, although the subsequent five instalments received varying ratings.
Offering their assessment, one fan remarked: "Season 1 is perfection. Just how you imagine the book to look and feel." A second concurred: "An absolute masterpiece in television. This is must-see content. From beautiful cinematography to poignant writing and great acting, this is TV at its finest."
Someone else contributed: "Best show I've seen since Game of Thrones and one of the most faithful book to TV adaptions I've ever seen."
