Our Yorkshire Farm's Reuben Owen admits 'it's hard work' in relationship update

Our Yorkshire Farm star Reuben Owen admitted "it's hard work" in a relationship update. Reuben appeared on ITV's Lorraine on Tuesday (December 16), where he spoke to host Lorraine Kelly about his festive special, Reuben Owen: Christmas in the Dales, which airs on Channel 5 tonight. The star also shared a relationship update with his girlfriend, Jess, who also appeared during the interview. The couple, who will be spending Christmas together this year, have recently been raising turkeys on their farm.

"[Jess] was the main lady that raised the turkeys. Between me and her, we managed to keep them fenced in. They were escape artists. We had some trouble with them. It was hard work. They took some keeping right," Reuben shared. On their festive plans this year, the star added: "We were together last Christmas, but this Christmas, I will be spending my Christmas with Jess at hers.

"We're going to go up later in the day to my parents to see them, but we'll be spending Christmas together this year."

The farm work doesn't stop for Reuben over the festive season, as he explained: "Especially being at Jess's, we'll have to milk on Christmas morning. It doesn't really stop for you, does it? Whatever the day, we'll still have to milk."

Jess added: "We'll have dinner and go to yours, and then milk again, won't we?"

Elsewhere in the interview, Reuben shared how he wants to inspire a younger generation to take up farming or to have a good life in the country. "It's a good programme with lots of varied, different things in it. If it inspires younger people to come up into the countryside and pick more of an agriculture or a construction-based job, it's good," he said.

"Round where we are, especially here in Cumbria, people are getting older. To bring young people into these, sort of, physical jobs like farming and construction, it would be great.

"If people watch our programme and it gets them interested and more into what we do, it's good, isn't it?"

In his festive Channel 5 special, Reuben plans a yuletide party at Jess's farm to thank his family and friends for all of their support with his workload in 2025. But before they can celebrate, Reuben and his workmates Sonny and Capper, helped by Jess's dad David, have a massive barn renovation project to take on.

While building work is going on, Reuben and Jess rear a flock of turkey chicks and must save the day when their festive feast flies off.
