Emmerdale viewers were less than impressed in the most recent episode of the ITV soap as Matty Barton (played by Ash Palmisciano) found himself in big trouble. During the show, ITV fans saw Samson Dingle’s (Sam Hall) new friend Josh (Osian Morgan) take a dislike to Matty.

While at The Hide cafe, Josh seemed to take a liking to Matty’s new wife Amy Wyatt (Natalie Ann Jamieson). Openly flirting with her, Samson was clearly uncomfortable at the exchange as Matty had had enough.

Pouring their paid-for beers away, Matty told them both to leave, which infuriated Josh. While outside, Josh made it clear the situation wasn’t over, as he told Samson they were owed their drinks.

Storming back inside, Matty tried to tell them both he had shut the cafe, although Josh was adamant they weren’t leaving without getting their drinks. As Josh started making awful remarks about Matty being transgender, he warned them to leave before he called the police.

Insisting they get money back for their wasted drinks, Josh started referring to Matty as “she”. While the situation escalated, Josh pushed Samson into Matty, unaware he was holding a knife from a food tray he was tidying up.

As Samson walked back, he was shocked to see blood on his hand and Matty had stabbed him.

Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson) was horrified when he walked into the scene as Josh quickly called the ambulance.

While Matty was stunned at what had happened, he insisted it was an accident.

It wasn’t long before word of the stabbing got around and some of the villagers rushed to the scene, including Samson’s dad and step mum along with and Matty’s mum and wife.

As Moira Barton (Natalie J. Robb) and Amy questioned Josh over what happened, he continued to say Matty had stabbed his friend.

Although it was evident they didn’t believe Josh was telling the truth as Matty was led out of the cafe in handcuffs while Samson was put into the back of an ambulance.

Crying, Matty shouted: “It was him! Mum, honestly I didn’t do anything. This wasn’t me mum honestly, please mum.”

It wasn’t long before people watching took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the shocking scene as many were left seething.
