DIY SOS star Nick Knowles distracted by dog on This Morning

While speaking to This Morning presenters Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard, guest Nick Knowles was a little distracted. It comes after the resident This Morning dog, called Buddy, took a liking to the DIY SOS presenter.

After a snippet of Nick’s new show was played to ITV viewers, the camera cut back to the trio in the studio with the pooch climbing over the DIY SOS star. Thrilled by his new furry companion, Nick said: “How cool is he?!”

While giving the pooch some treats, Cat tried to start the interview, although Ben giggled at Buddy trying to get Nick’s attention. While Buddy licked his hand, before sniffing his lap, causing Nick to slightly jump up.

The two presenters laughed at the mishap as he commented: “Sit there Buddy! I must’ve dropped a piece, sorry.” Ben replied: “I think you might’ve! I hope it’s that.”

It seemed as though viewers watching also found the mishap hilarious. Taking to X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, @fuzzybeepants said: “Yes Nick gets points for playing with Buddy!”

In February this year, This Morning fans were first introduced to the newest member of the team by Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary.

At eight weeks old, the pooch made his debut on the show as viewers were told he was training to become an autism assistance dog.

Throughout the show, people watching shared their suggestions on what he should be called, as the majority thought Buddy suited him the most.

Toward the end of the show, Alison said: “Thank you everyone who got in touch with us, we've had so many suggestions, thank you so much.

“But we can now reveal the official name of our new puppy is… Buddy! So many of you suggested Buddy and that's what we're going to call him.”

After Nick managed to calm down Buddy on Wednesday’s show, he informed the presenters about his latest Channel 5 show, Nick Knowles in South Africa.

Throughout the show, people will see Nick explore the continent, meet locals along the way and learn about South Africa’s history.

He told the hosts: “This is my 40th year on TV this year, over that time I’ve got to know some amazing people.

“You can look at the pictures. The guy shooting this Toby Wilkinson has done Top Gear for the last 20 years and he came and did this as a favour to me.”

The 61-year-old’s new series airs on June 5 with the star starting off his journey climbing the slopes of the Andes Mountains.

A synopsis for the episode reads: “Nick Knowles sets off on an ambitious adventure around the continent, starting out by climbing the baby slopes of the Andes Mountains and coming face to face with 40,000 breeding pairs of Magellan penguins.

“He learns about the lives of the Kaweskas ancestors, an indigenous people known for their connection to the ocean.”
