Death in Paradise star's heartwarming message to Ralf Little after exit exposed

Death In Paradise star Elizabeth Bourgine shared a sweet message to her former co-star Ralf Little following his departure from the hit BBC show.

Elizabeth, who is best known for playing the role of Catherine, joined in on the fun as she headed over to Instagram to compliment Ralf. The Death In Paradise frontman, who played the role of DI Neville Parker in the popular crime series, shared a hilarious video of himself getting his toenails painted in the colours of the England flag.

Representing the country ahead of the The UEFA European Football Champions, which saw England face Slovenia on Tuesday (June 25) Ralf was in clearly in high spirits. Talking to the camera, he said: "Got to represent tonight's game in style."

Showing off his feet, he then added: "Come on, England!" As his fans laughed and encouraged his patriotism, Elizabeth had some kind words to share.

She wrote: "My dear Ralf, You are still So English [laughing emoji]. Hugs and kisses, Catherine from #deathinparadise."

Back in March, fans were left gutted when it was revealed that Ralf was leaving Death in Paradise after playing his role for over four years. Writing a lengthy message on Instagram he wrote: "The secret's out! My time on Saint Marie has come to an end. But, what an end! New adventures await Neville and he got to sail off into the sunset with his best friend, and, you know, who knows what happens for them next!"

"I just want to say, just an enormous thank you to everyone who watched and supported the show. When I arrived, four-and-a-half years ago, I knew I had big shoes to fill. Coming into a series beloved by millions, including me, was a huge responsibility."

"I had no idea if viewers would take to my interpretation of Neville's character and indeed to me, so it was quite a relief the response has been overwhelming."

"It has been an absolute privilege and pleasure to bring Neville Parker to all of you and to share his really quite profound journey with you. I can't thank you all enough for the support over the last four-and-a-half years and as Neville heads off for new challenges and adventures and I head off for new challenges and adventures."

Ralf's replacement is well known actor Don Gilet. Don is famous for his roles in EastEnders, Sherwood, and Shetland. The actor will make his debut as Detective Inspector Mervin Wilson in the 2024 Christmas special.

Talking about his new role, the star said: "Being offered the new lead role in Death in Paradise feels like a deeply loved and incredibly precious jewel has been placed in my hands. This is a big show, with a big heart and the love continually grows for it."
