Ken Bruce won big at this year's TRIC Awards in Mayfair, with the radio icon collecting three accolades as TV and radio categories were combined.

While taking to the stage to collect the first award, Ken, 73, shared: "I started in radio actually 47 years ago this month - full-time radio.

"It is amazing that I am still standing up here and able to read. I won't speak to you too long as every gentleman of my age will be desperate to get to the toilet right now.

"I won't talk too much but it has been an absolute joy to enjoy radio."

He thanked the voters and the team around him before teasing a career shake-up for the future.

Ken continued: "Well, over the age of 60 odd, you can reinvent yourself and do something new.

"I'll enjoy this for a few years and maybe 10 to 15 years from now, I'll look forward to doing something else like maybe standing to be the President of the United States of America."

The presenter concluded: "It’s lovely to see Scotland winning a trophy!"

Ken's political quip was met with laughter from the audience who applauded him as he walked down from the stage.

Ken, who works for Greatest Hits Radio, picked up his gongs for Best Daytime Show, Best Radio Show and Radio Personality.

However, he appeared to take a barbed dig at his former employer the BBC during the awards ceremony.

He told The Sun: "It’s a real privilege actually to have moved on and for people to make the noise and say, you know, you’ve done all right."
