Kay Burley is best known for presenting her three-hour-long breakfast show on Sky News. However, as the broadcast starts at 7am, the 63-year-old wakes up at 3.17 am.

Speaking about her routine ahead of going to work, the presenter details how she sits up and takes a breath before turning the lights on. Although this wasn’t the case a year ago as Kat admitted her routine has changed after a horror accident.

She told The Times: “The sitting up, taking a breath and putting all the lights on is very, very important because last year I jumped out of bed and, next thing, I woke up covered in blood on the bathroom floor.”

The 63-year-old explained that she takes medicine to lower her blood pressure, unaware that menopause lowers it further. Kay detailed that when she got out of bed too quickly, she passed out in the shower.

Kay added: “Luckily I hit my head on the wall as I went down because the doctor said if I'd hit the door jamb it would have been Goodnight Vienna."
