Meghan Markle is reportedly at peace as she quietly focuses on creating a burgeoning business empire in California.

Despite her contentment in her new role as an entrepreneur, insiders say she harbours a few regrets following her departure from the British royal family.

According to Kinsey Schofield, host of the "To Di For Daily" podcast, Meghan regrets some of the public statements she made after stepping down from royal duties in 2020.

"She and Prince Harry deeply regret the royal racist controversy," Schofield told Fox News Digital, referring to the couple's explosive 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey. "Meghan wanted the takeaway from their Oprah interview to be about her mental health.

“And I think Meghan regretted sitting down with The Cut [in 2022] because she provided endless commentary for her critics."

Despite these reflections, Meghan has shifted her focus to the future and her growing business endeavours.

Recently, she revealed to the New York Times that she’s invested in Cesta Collective, a female-founded, sustainably sourced handbag brand.

She also has several other investments and is developing a lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard.

Few have been allowed into Meghan’s inner circle as she carefully curates her personal and professional life in California.

"I would describe Meghan’s personal life in California as isolated but structured," Schofield explained.

"She typically gravitates towards people that can offer her something, contribute to her personal goals."

The Sussexes have also been spotted enjoying their life in Montecito, California, often dining at local favourites such as Lucky’s steakhouse and Tre Lune, an Italian restaurant.

"Harry and Meghan have a fairly idyllic life in California, regardless of what their critics like to imagine," said Christopher Andersen, author of "The King."

Beyond her business pursuits, Meghan remains committed to her philanthropic projects and continues to explore new ventures.

Us Weekly reported that Meghan has completed filming a Netflix series focused on cooking, which is expected to tie in with her upcoming lifestyle brand.

The couple also plans to remain active in their charitable endeavours, with Harry set to visit New York City to promote their causes.

While Meghan and Harry have faced their share of challenges and criticism, they are focused on carving out a new life in the U.S.

"Meghan has transitioned from actress to royal to entrepreneur," a source told Us Weekly.

"She’s worn many hats, but she believes age and experience have prepared her for a bigger purpose in life."

For now, Meghan and Harry seem content to build their future in California, with Meghan channeling her energy into her businesses and philanthropic work.

"The business and philanthropic opportunities remain pretty rosy for the Sussexes," Andersen noted. "Meghan is more determined than ever to exploit them."
