A royal expert has claimed that Meghan Markle is echoing Princess Diana on purpose in terms of her style choices.

The Mail On Sunday’s Editor at large Charlotte Griffiths told Palace Confidential that she believed that the Duchess of Sussex was echoing Prince Harry’s mother on purpose and making no secret about it.

She claimed: “I don’t think it’s a coincidence. There are 10,000 pictures of Diana and 10,000 pictures of Meghan and you probably could match some things by coincidence.

“I think she’s been doing it all along and I don’t think she’s even making a secret of it. I think there are times she definitely echoes Diana on purpose.

“We know that in the early stages of her relationship with Harry, she encouraged Harry to think a lot about her mother and his mother and she brought Diana up a lot in conversations and I think she is referencing Diana. I think she’s happy with the association.”

Charlotte’s comments come as Meghan prepares to launch yet another business venture as she continues to get lifestyle brand American Riviera Orchard off the ground.

Meghan is reportedly investing in a new fashion brand known as Cesta Collective which is a brand of handbag she has carried in recent years.

Speaking to the New York Times about the investment, Meghan said likes to search for brands she likes and can support. She explained: “I spend a lot of time just Googling, looking for brands.

"When people are online looking for things or reading things, I’m trying to find great new designers, especially in different territories.”

In the same interview, Meghan also touched on her global power and how her global exposure enables her to highlight causes and brands close to her.

She said: “Times where I know there is a global spotlight, and attention will be given to each detail of what I may or may not be wearing.

“[T]hen I support designers that I have really great friendships with, and smaller, up-and-coming brands that haven't gotten the attention that they should be getting ... that's one of the most powerful things that I'm able to do, and that's simply wearing, like, an earring.”

Whilst Meghan is attempting to support brands she likes and admires her own venture, American Riviera Orchard, is still yet to get going properly after it was announced earlier this year.

One PR expert has commented to the Express whether or not Meghan’s project will be a success. Founder and director of Atticism Renae Smith said: “Determining the success of Meghan's rosé wine launch is challenging, given the crowded market of celebrity-endorsed wines.

"It's unlikely to target the premium wine connoisseurs but rather aims for a mid-market segment. The product appeals to Meghan's followers who appreciate (and possibly sympathise with) her brand and story.

"The eclectic mix of products—jams, dog biscuits, and now wine—suggests a comprehensive target demographic: individuals who are home-oriented, enjoy baking, have pets, and cherish aspirational home-maker lifestyle narratives.”
