A huge star of Death in Paradise has landed a new detective role just months after their exit.

Joséphine Jobert portrayed DS Florence Cassell on the BBC comedy-drama series from 2015 to 2024, becoming the love interest of Ralf Little's character Neville Parker.

The actress, 39, has now landed a new role in upcoming police drama Saint-Pierre.

She will play Deputy Police Chief Geneviève Archambault in the Canadian show, which also features James Purefoy and Allan Hawco.

The programme follows Newfoundland Constabulary Inspector Donny Fitzpatrick (Hawco), who is exiled to work in Saint-Pierre et Miquelon - the French Territory nestled in the Atlantic Ocean - after he digs too deeply into a local politician’s nefarious activity.

His arrival disrupts the life of Geneviève, a Parisian transplant who is in Saint-Pierre for her own reasons. Saint-Pierre features 10 hour-long episodes and will hit screens on CBC and CBC Gem in late 2025.

After the news was announced, Allan took to Instagram with an image of him and Josephine at CBC's 2024-25 season preview event, writing: "@saintpierreseries was announced at yesterday’s CBC 2024-25 Season Preview.

"I’m thrilled to be filming in the stunning locations of Saint-Pierre et Miquelon, France, and St. John’s, Newfoundland, for this gripping new series. Get ready to join @josephinejobert_official, myself and a stellar cast on-screen — coming winter 2025."

Joséphine appears to be keeping herself busy following her Death in Paradise exit as just last month, it was revealed she landed a role in AI surveillance drama, Concordia.

The French actress will play Mathilde in the upcoming six-part thriller. Josephine will work opposite House of the Dragon star Nanna Blondell and Ted Lasso's Ruth Bradley. Meanwhile, Frank Doelger, famed for his work on Game of Thrones, will serve as executive producer.

Last month, Joséphine shut down a potential return to Death in Paradise during an Instagram Q&A. Asked whether she will be making an appearance on the BBC show in the future, Josephine replied: "No, Death in Paradise is now over for me.

"I've already left and rejoined the series several times and I've more than served my time. I'm very grateful for everything it's given me, both personally and professionally, but I have to move on."

She concluded the post: "But I am very touched to be asked this question. It's all love!"
