Bargain Hunt: Daniel Sebastian introduces D-Day episode

Bargain Hunt viewers have been unsettled as the iconic BBC antiques show was nowhere to be found in the network's Wednesday schedule.

One avid fan spoke out on X when the program missed its usual 12:15pm start time: " Let me get this right, Bargain Hunt isn’t on today because of D-Day? Huge if true."

During the competition show's usual slot was the new D-Day special, crafted by the BBC to make the 80th anniversary of the Normandy Landings during World War II.

The nearly three-hour-long special streamed straight to viewers' homes from the seafront in Portsmouth where the Allies departed for the beaches of Frances eight decades ago.

Bargain Hunt fans can rest assured the show will return to its usual slot on Thursday, with some more special themed episodes announced.

On Friday, June 7, the BBC One show marks the start of national volunteering with Natasha Raskin Sharp presenting Bargain Hunt: Time to Help Out.

The special will see Natasha heading to Shropshire to get hands-on in a voluntary project run by a group of beekeepers.

Elsewhere, experts Danny Sebastian and Kate Bliss will be helping their teams at the Newark antiques fair make a difference in the community with foodbank volunteers Nancy and Ellen forming the red team while a duo of social justice ambassadors head up the blue team.

Later in the month, one episode on June 14 will mark a historic first for Bargain Hunt as it combines animals and antiques.

To celebrate the RSPCA’s 200th anniversary, the BBC One show is putting on the Barking Hunt, with the red and blue teams joined by their four-legged family members, accordingly decked out in doggy Bargain Hunt attire.

Christina Trevanion will be heading up the episode at Shepton Mallet antiques fair in Somerset while experts Caroline Hawley and Thomas Forrester have the daunting duties of getting their teams, and their pooches, to the top.

The special will see Chippenham auctioneer Tim Weeks, and his black and white collie Roxy, heading to the rostrum as the teams battle it out not just for the usual Bargain Hunt glory but also for a golden bone.
