BBC Death in Paradise second spin-off 'confirmed' as new series promises 'more grit'
Death in Paradise kicked off on the BBC in 2011 while it's first spin-off Beyond Paradise hit screens in 2023.
Death in Paradise viewers can expect another spin-off series of the BBC programme. The crime comedy drama hit screens in 2011, with Ben Miller playing Saint Marie's first detective inspector, Richard Poole.
Viewers have seen four DI's come and go, with EastEnders actor Don Gilet recently confirmed as the fifth lead star. In 2023, bosses commissioned the show's first spin-off, Beyond Paradise.
The BBC drama follows DI Humprhey Goodman (Kris Marshall), the lead detective on Death in Paradise from 2014 until 2017, who left Saint Marie to be with Martha Lloyd (Sally Bretton).
But it appears a second spin-off is already in the works - but with a twist.
The upcoming factual series will take a deep dive into the life of real police officers who work in the Caribbean.

A TV source claimed filming has already begun for the series, which is believed to be called Policing Paradise. They told The Mirror: "It’ll look at what the real life police get up to as opposed to the fictional ones in Death in Paradise - and there’s quite a difference."
The insider added: "Viewers who are used to the crime being solved every week might find that reality is not quite so neat. Just like the show’s plots, there is a lot of murder but unlike them far fewer murders are actually solved - and certainly not within a few days.
"There aren’t as many love stories either! Real life is a bit more gritty." Created by TV company Spun Gold, the documentary series will reportedly have a daytime slot on BBC One.
At the beginning of May, Don was announced as the new lead in Death in Paradise. The 57-year-old will take over from Ralf Little, who starred as Neville Parker from 2020 to 2024.

Don will play Detective Inspector Mervin Wilson, who isn't pleased with his surroundings when he arrives on Saint Marie from London. Of his new role, the former soap star said: "Being offered the new lead role in Death in Paradise feels like a deeply loved and incredibly precious jewel has been placed in my hands.
"This is a big show, with a big heart and the love continually grows for it. It is my intention to never lose sight of that and to remain grateful, humbled and dedicated."
Don added: "Even during those testing times when every sinew is screaming at me to run off the set and dive into the sea, swimming pool or an ice-cold beer – whichever happens to be closer at the time!"
