GMB: Andi Peters insults Ranvir Singh about her 'online shopping'

Good Morning Britain's Andi Peters was hit by backlash today after "throwing shade" at his co-star Ranvir Singh.

Presenters Susanna Reid and Ed Balls turned to Andi to announce the day's competition details. The camera panned to show him stood on a platform looking down on the presenters' desk, where Ranvir was sat with a laptop in front of her.

Andi explained: "I'm up above looking down." He then joked: "Ranvir, I can see you're online shopping. I wouldn't get that in a medium Ranvir."

She looked up and waved at him before he brutally added: "That's optimistic". Ranvir didn't respond as Andi continued to reel off the competition details. He then looked back down and pointed as he said: "Her face" and clapped his hands in glee.

Fans on social media were fuming over the "vile" comment. Posting on X (formerly Twitter), one user said: "Funny how Andi Peters can be rude about a ladies weight and get away with it! Anyone else would be cancelled and lose their job. Vile man #gmb".

Another wrote: "Andi Peters throwing shade at Ranvir's gorgeous figure! Disrespectful punk #gmb".

Someone else added: "That was bloody harsh from Andy #GMB." While a fourth quipped: "If I was Ranvir I'd punch Peters face in...#GMB."

The ITV breakfast show also sparked backlash yesterday (June 4) as Susanna and Ed were heavily criticised for how they interviewed Shadow Defence Secretary John Healey.

They discussed Diane Abbott calling Labour Leader Sir Keir Starmer a liar, as Ed kept speaking over the politician to demand a "reaction" from him. However, it was difficult to comprehend what either was trying to say as fans once more complained on Twitter.

Ed held up his phone to read the now-deleted tweet, as he said: "[She] last night tweeted, 'More lies from Starmer'. So she accused the leader of the Labour Party of being a liar on Twitter last night. She then deleted the tweet, but that is not the kind of behaviour you'd expect from a Labour candidate."

Eventually, Healey said: "Look, the ball is in Diane's court, if she wants to stand and she says she does, the way is now clear and I am glad that confusion is now... The way is now clear for her to stand.

"She will, I expect, be endorsed as a Labour candidate I expect, alongside myself and candidates in 650 seats across the country."

Good Morning Britain airs on weekdays from 6am on ITV and ITVX.
