Robert Rinder, also known as Judge Rinder, was abruptly told to "shut up" by Good Morning Britain producers after he made a rather bizarre comparison.

Celebrating his 46th birthday on the show, Rinder joined the panel on Friday alongside co-host Ranvir Singh. Together, they tackled the day's biggest headlines and moderated discussions on the ITV programme.

One of the hot topics was Taylor Swift's Eras Tour, which has seen the pop sensation sell out venues worldwide. Swift is gearing up to hit the UK next weekend, with highly anticipated performances in London, Edinburgh, Cardiff, and Liverpool.

Swift's global influence has sparked intense debate, even reaching academic circles. An upcoming conference this Friday aims to delve into how Taylor Swift has influenced contemporary culture.

The conference posits that Swift's songwriting should be considered as poetic as Shakespeare's works. One professor even claimed during a segment that Taylor could be seen as a modern-day Shakespeare.

After the segment, Rinder and Singh, 46, delved into the topic with newsreader Marverine Cole. Singh didn't hesitate to praise Swift, remarking: "They are right, in that she writes, beautifully, the feelings of an entire generation, doesn't she?"

Co-host Rinder interjected with his thoughts, astonishing his colleagues with an unusual analogy. He concurred that Taylor is a bona fide artist, then cited the inspirational contributions of other musicians and literary icons to the world.

"I don't like snobbishness around any kind of art," Rinder declared, with Singh concurring: "And Bob Dylan won a Nobel Prize for literature, and Sylvia Plath too!"

Rinder cracked a swift joke before conceding that the show's producers were in his ear, urging him to wrap up. "I know, viewers of Good Morning Britain are saying 'Sylvia Plath?' - and I can hear the producers going, 'Shut up, Robert!'"

"But anyway, she was a great grime artist of her generation," he continued, before reciting a piece from the esteemed poet's oeuvre.

He went on to say: "All of this art, all of it - of its day has sort of a value and speaks to a time - and [Taylor], more than anyone else at present, is doing exactly that; she deserves to be lauded for it!"

After his impassioned oration, which left his colleagues somewhat perplexed, Singh cut in to acknowledge a special occasion. It was Rinder's 46th birthday, and he was celebrating by co-presenting the show.

Initially, it seemed that his sacrifice had gone unnoticed on the show when the ex-North West Tonight presenter didn't immediately wish her colleague a happy birthday. However, she soon made amends, saying: "Happy birthday, by the way, I forgot to say it in the last hour," which elicited a gracious "thank you" from the birthday boy.
