Good Morning Britain presenter Charlotte Hawkins faced a backlash from viewers as she stood in for regular host Susanna Reid on the ITV breakfast show. They took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to slam the star, branding her "unwatchable".
@ChrisDeityUK opined: "I know she’s only a stand-in to allow Saint Susanna to spend half term with her adult kids, but Charlotte Hawkins just doesn’t have a strong enough personality to be an anchor #GMB."
@Rise_and_grind7 sommented: "Charlotte likes to shoot her shot for Susanna’s job (not that sue is much better) when she’s off, but always crashes and burns #gmb."(sic) @Marshmallow3UK asked: "What’s going on with Charlotte? She’s become unwatchable @GMB #GMB."
@Jo_WhiteheadUK was torn writing: "Whilst I want to like Charlotte on #GMB, her technique of interviewing politicians just seems aggressive. Yesterday on VAT on schools I wondered if she had a kid in private as she seemed so angry. Today nothing good to say about Rayner despite being cleared."
@MadKDog chimed in: "Dont worry, #gmb viewers Charlotte will be back to reading the autocue from next week." However @CKurkova was a fan of the host, enthusing: "Charlotte is my new fave presenter #gmb."

Charlotte was hosting Wednesday's edition of the show with Richard Madeley. The presenting duo covered many topics throughout the edition, including welcoming 99-year-old Dorothea Barron, who was a Navy WREN during WW2.

They also spoke to bereaved mother Ellen Roome, who is calling on social media companies to hand over her son’s internet search history after he took his own life aged 14.

Charlotte isn't the only stand in presenter on the show this week, as many of the show's best-known faces take the half term hoiday off.

Weather presenter Laura is also enjoying a break from the programme and on Monday night, accompanied her Good Morning Britain colleague Richard Arnold to the second anniversary party for ABBA Voyage.

Getting into the spirit of the occasion, she wore a purple sequinned outfit with flared trousers and corset style top with spaghetti straps.

Her stand in Ruth Dodsworth has proved a hit with viewers as she covers in her absence.

Ruth, 49, is best known for her work in ITV Cymru Wales, where she started training as a news reporter and presenter in June 1996, before switching roles to become a weather presenter in 2000.

She only made her debut as a Good Morning Britain guest presenter in December 2022.

Good Morning Britain is on ITV weekdays at 6am.
