GMB: Susanna Reid and Ed Balls introduce the show

Good Morning Britain fans threatened to give the show "a miss" after seeing that Ed Balls would be appearing at the helm of the ITV show alongside Susanna Reid on Monday (June 17).

With the General Election fast approaching, with the polls due to take place on July 4, politics are at the forefront of everyone's minds. GMB often invites politicians from the seven parties on to the show as they grill them over their manifestos and plans if they get into power.

But with presenter Ed's wife, Yvette Cooper, being heavily involved with the Labour party, fans at home have questioned whether or not he is the right man for the job. Some claimed that he would not be able to "remain neutral" in debates and would be pushing his wife's views.

The ITV show posted a preview of what to expect on Monday's show to Facebook, leading to fans sharing their complaints. One user said: "Not Ed. Think I’ll give it a miss." Another added: "One to miss."

Someone else penned: "Oh no, not Ed Balls, his mumbling & simpering is so unprofessional whilst supposedly presenting. Also as an ex Labour politician he is so obviously biased towards the left that he cannot report with impartiality."

A fourth wrote: "Should Ed be presenting during the election as his wife is in the labour party? He’s not neutral & he’s biased", they added a second comment which read: "He should be removed".

However, others were delighted at the presenting duo appearing on their TV screens. One said: "Thank goodness it's Ed x". Another added: "Good start to the week GMB", followed by a smiley face and clapping hands emojis.

Who is Ed Balls' wife?
