Good Morning Britain viewers switched off just minutes into the programme as they issued the same complaint about Martin Lewis.

The Money Saving Expert, 52, is often a guest on the ITV show, however, stepped into the main chair as he presented alongside Susanna Reid on Wednesday (June 26).

The host shake-up sparked fury amongst fans as they took to social media to share their thoughts. One wrote: "Martin Lewis is so smug that I have to turn off. Good luck to everyone who can stomach his 'holier than thou' lecture and gain a few Bob."

Echoing this, a second added: "Martin Lewis?........Nope," alongside an image of a computer shutting down. Another joked: "When does Good Morning Britain start? I’ve got ITV on but The Martin Lewis Money Show is currently on."

A fourth fumed: "Can't this show get a decent male presenter. With all the men out there, we have this idiot back. Motormouth Martin.#gmb."

Martin confirmed he would be appearing on GMB in a social media post shared on Tuesday evening (June 25). He wrote: "Yay finally finished the work I need to do. Now can watch England. Though need to be in bed as soon as it finishes as up at 4am ish tomorrow for @GMB."

Addressing his followers once again with a selfie before the show kicked off at 6am, Martin penned: "Good Morning (Britain). Others had a positive outlook at Martin's presence on GMB, with one writing: "Good morning mate. Have a great week."

Another shared: "Lovely pic Martin. Hope you have a Good day." Someone else added: "I'm watching Martin Lewis talking .... make it stop! Only joking he's one of the good guys."

It comes after Martin issued a warning to grandparents gifting cash to anyone.

On his Not The Martin Lewis Podcast show, a listener reached out with a query: "My grandparents wish to gift me part of my inheritance early. I understand that they can give £3,000 each tax-free. But since this is the first time, can they carry over last year's allowance?"

Tax expert Kari Mellon from Opes Tax responded: "Yes, £6,000 in the first year and then £3,000 for each year afterwards."

BBC Sounds presenter Martin chimed in with additional advice: "They may be able to give you more if they have surplus income that they could give away."
