Eamonn Holmes kicked off GB News with an "unusual" announcement on Wednesday as he hosted the show solo from the studio. Just minutes into the programme, Eamonn was joined by his co-star Isabel Webster, who was hosted live from Portsmouth.

"Hello there, very good morning to you, good to see you," Eamonn began before adding: "Wednesday, June 5, this is Breakfast rather unusually with me here in London and Isabel Webster in Portsmouth. Good morning, Isabel."

"Good Morning," Isabel replied. "That's right I am in Portsmouth today at the National Commemorative Event. His Majesty the King, the Queen, and the Prince of Wales will be joined by the Prime Minister and the leader of the opposition."

Eamonn continued: "Normandy prepares to honour its legacy and President Joe Biden flies into France."

The GB News host proceeded to announce what other news stories were making the headlines before continuing with the rest of the show. He said: "This is going to be a very special day as Portsmouth is the venue for a lot of events to honour troops who crossed the Channel 80 years ago as they headed into the battle of a lifetime. Tell us what is going on, Isabel."

His co-star explained: "Welcome everybody at home to Portsmouth this morning, this historic city.

"Every day is D-Day as soon as you arrive in the city you see all the signs to the D-Day Museum, it is etched into their history."

Isabel went on to address what fans can expect to see including displays from the Red Arrows, Military Bands, and two World War Two aircrafts.

She also shared her own story about how her grandfather fought in the war and survived.

Eamonn and Isabel usually present GB News from the studio between Monday and Wednesday each week.

The former This Morning host made a return to the show last Tuesday after confirming he and his wife Ruth Langsford were filing for divorce.

Ruth has yet to publicly address their split and is currently taking some time away from Loose Women.

Eamonn hasn't spoken about it much, but he did take the time out to thank viewers for their love and support. He said: "Just before we move on we'd just like to thank people for your support for Ruth and I over the last few days as to the news of our separation. Your support for both of us is very much appreciated."

Breakfast with Eamonn and Isabel airs Monday to Wednesday at 6am on GB News.
