Sweet Tooth season three is on its way and there isn’t too long to wait for its arrival.

Based on Jeff Lemire’s comic book series, Sweet Tooth on Netflix is a DC adaptation which brings to life the story of Gus (played by Christian Convery), a half-human, half-deer boy who searches for a new beginning in a post-apocalyptic world.

The show first made its debut in 2021 and was quickly renewed for a second outing, although that didn’t make an appearance until April last year.

It took just a few weeks for season three to be announced which didn’t come as too much of a surprise given Sweet Tooth’s popularity on the streamer.

Sadly, it will be the beginning of the end of the drama with just one more season left to drop.

When is the release date for Sweet Tooth season 3?

The wait for Sweet Tooth is almost over with just a few days left to go before the eight-episode series comes out.

Sweet Tooth season three premieres on Thursday, June 6, on Netflix with all episodes dropping in one go.

The second outing ended with a final showdown with General Abbot (played by Neil Sandilands) and Gus’ found family and the hybrids escaping from the Last Men thanks to Gus, Jepperd (Nonso Anozie), Becky (Stefania LaVie Owen) and Aimee (Dania Ramirez).

At the end of the season, the whole family, including the saved hybrid children, go to Gus’ cabin in Yellowstone.

Ahead of the show’s return, a synopsis has been released, teasing what’s to come from season three.

It reads: “Having defeated General Abbot in the battle at Pubba’s Cabin, Gus, Jepperd, Becky, and Wendy (Naledi Murray) embark on a journey to Alaska in search of Gus’s mother, Birdie (Amy Seimetz), who has been working to uncover the mysterious origins of the deadly Sick.

“Along the way, they are joined by Dr Singh (Adeel Akhtar), who may have his own dangerous beliefs about Gus and his role in reversing the virus.

“Meanwhile, a new threat emerges in the form of Helen Zhang (Rosalind Chao), her daughter Rosie (Kelly Marie Tran), and the ferocious Wolf Boys, who seek to restart human birth and view Gus as the solution to their plans.”

Why did Harry and Meghan make a Netflix series about their life?

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have found themselves at the centre of public attention since they took a step back from senior royal duties in 2020.

In a trailer for the Netflix series about them, Prince Harry told viewers that “no one sees what’s happening behind closed doors” in a reference to how their lives may differ from what the public think about the couple. Meghan adds: “When the stakes are this high, doesn’t it make more sense to hear our story from us?”.

Reports suggested the Duke and Duchess of Sussex could receive up to $100 million for making the show, although this has been disputed and the true figure is unknown.

Sweet Tooth has been following the same plot of the comic books with the majority of the storylines now covered.

Showrunner Jim Mickle explained that it had always been the plan to do just three seasons.

In a statement, Mickle said: "In a lot of ways, it’s exactly the story that I imagined we would tell, and in a lot of ways it takes on its own life.

"At the beginning, I think you set out to tell these landmark pieces of Gus’ story and the big pieces of the comic book, but the beauty of long-form storytelling and Gus’ journey over 24 episodes is the characters themselves tell you what they want to be."

Sweet Tooth season three premieres on Thursday, June 6, on Netflix.
