BBC Breakfast misspell 'chilly' during weather report

Carol Kirkwood had a four-word response to being "tormented" by her BBC Breakfast co-stars. The 62-year-old joined Jon Kay and Sally Nugent for Tuesday's instalment (June 11) of the BBC programme.

Carol was on hand to deliver the latest forecast updates with viewers, but unfortunately, it wasn't what people wanted to hear.

At the beginning of the show, the Scottish star revealed that things got off to a "chilly" start this morning, with temperatures falling as low as three degrees in some parts of the country last night.

There wasn't much hope for the rest of the day either as Carol explained there would be more cloud throughout the day, with temperatures still cool for June.

Ahead of Carol's final weather report, Sally made a confession about their co-star. She said: "We have been tormenting Carol all morning, asking her when she can fix the weather for us.

As the meteorologist appeared on-screen, the 52-year-old queried: "Have you done it yet, Carol?" The weather reporter was forced to disappoint her friend as she responded: "Not quite yet, Sally."

Laughing, Carol added: "A bit of work to do on that one yet!" During Carol's segment, fans noticed a glaring blunder on the screen next to her.

They pointed out that the word "chilly" had been spelt with three L's instead of two as they took to social media to comment on the error.

One wrote: "Is 'chillly' chillier than 'chilly'?" Another declared: "@BBCBreakfast @bbcweather Chilly only has two “L”s." Mocking the mistake, a third added: "VERY CHILLLY start."

It comes after Carol announced a venture away from BBC Breakfast. The presenter took to X to announce that she had written a new novel, Once Upon A Time in Venice.

Sharing a photo of the book, Carol added the caption: "I'm delighted to announce that I have a new novel coming in July called #OnceUponATimeInVenice.

This time I'm whisking you away to Italy where masquerade balls, opera stars and Hollywood all collide in a sizzling romance." This will be Carol's fourth novel after writing Under A Greek Moon, The Hotel on the Riviera and Secrets of the Villa Amore.
