James Martin had Alex Brooker in as one of his Saturday Morning guests - but it was unlikely the TV chef expected the present to rip into his lasagne.

James Martin was forced to shrug off his guest Alex Brooker's critique of his lasagne this morning.

The 51-year-old's hit ITV show James Martin's Saturday Morning promptly returned to screens this weekend for a Soccer Aid special as he welcomed a series of guests on the show including Alex Brooker and Tom Allen and chefs Nieves Barragan and Lenny Carr-Roberts.

James invited journalist Alex on for the second segment of the show, as the 40-year-old opened up about his journey into he industry while James rustled up a tasty homemade lasagne

"This is my version of a lasagne hopefully it is as good as yours," James declared as he dished Alex up a healthy portion of the classic Italian dish.

"I'll let you dive into it first and you tell me what you think," James said as he eagerly awaited Alex's review. "Does it match yours?" he asked as The Last Leg host took a bite.

Alex took a bite and paused before hilariously quipping: “It’s alright,” as he pulled a disappointed expression.

James and the crew burst into laughter as Alex revealed his true thoughts on the lasagne.

“Jokes, it's absolutely - oh my gosh, I can’t swear - but it's so good,” he gushed.

However, things took a more serious turn when Alex reflected on his trip to a UNICEF-supported refugee camp in Jordan, that houses the physically disabled, where he met a little girl called Elan who Alex witnessed getting a new printed prosthetic hand fitted.

"It was a privilege to be asked to go," Alex said as he praised the incredible work the charity has done for the camp as well as third-world countries in particular.

Speaking of the impact Elan's new arm had, Alex explained: "To see the confidence it gave her was just overwhelming," before tearing up.

"I get emotional, "Alex admitted as he whipped his tears away.
