Reese Witherspoon has dropped the bombshell that she's born with a completely different name - leaving fans and even her close pal Nicole Kidman confused.

Reese Witherspoon has been in the spotlight her whole life, but behind the glitz and glamour and off the screen, she goes by a very very different name to her nearest and dearest.
The 48-year-old Hollywood star reminded the world that her so-called stage name, which many know her by so well, is actually not her real name, during an interview with Vanity Fair along with her close friend Nicole Kidman.
In the recent joint interview, Reese reminded Nicole, 56, of her real name as they were discussing the production of Big Little Lies when their co-star Laura Dern popped up in the conversation.
The Legally Blonde star shared how she referred to Laura by her last name, which left Nicole in a state of confusion.
"My other favourite thing is that I called Dern when we were shooting Big Little Lies," Reese explained as Nicole interrupted and made her feelings about the nickname clear.
"I hate how you call her Dern though. It sounds weird," she admitted, adding: "I'm always like, 'Laura' and you're like, 'no, Dern, Dern, Dern.'"
After learning of Nicole's dislike towards Reese's nickname for Laura, the Cruel Intentions actress pointed out: "Do you know why? Because my name is Laura and her name is Laura and it's confusing to me."
The Legally Blonde star, who shot to fame in 1990, full name is in fact Laura Jean Reese Witherspoon and she decided to shorten the moniker to her mother's maiden name.
"Oh that's right," Nicole replied - seemingly having forgotten Reese's birth name.
"So I get confused and so I call her Dern because we can't both be Laura," Reese clarified.

Reese, or as we should say, Laura, was cut short as Nicole playfully cut her off, saying: "But she doesn't call you Laura, though."
Fans were also left in a state of shock when Reese dropped her name bombshell after a snippet of the conversation was shared on Instagram.
One user @lee.f.johnson shared: "I was today years old when I found out Reese’s real name is Laura lmao," as @mungerdanielle agreed, adding: "I DID NOT KNOW, her full name is Laura Jeanne Reese Witherspoon!"
A third fan @addad.ak pointed out: "Even Nicole didn’t know."
While @terrid303 admitted: "How is she confused if no one calls her Laura," with @madijayne noting: "Reese acting like ANYONE calls her Laura."
