A Place in the Sun star Laura Hamilton has opened up about the realities of life as a working mum, as she co-parents her two children Rocco and Tahlia with ex-husband Alex Goward, from whom she split in 2022.

The popular presenter is away from home when shooting the Channel 4 property show and admits she has "no choice" but to make it work. Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk she opened up on the relatable juggling act of being a working mum.

"Basically, I'm very lucky that my children have travelled with me and still travel with me a fair bit. So that's all good," she admitted.

"And I co-parent my children with their dad so they're one week with him, and one week with me, and so it kind of works for everyone. I try and manage things around that because obviously they're priority.

"But that's that's how it all works and you just have to do it. I just have to make it work - I don't have a choice. I've got financial commitments to them and parental responsibilities to them and and I love my job as well. So I just have to make it work.

Alex and Laura split in 2022 after 10 years of marriage. Addressing their breakup at the time, Laura penned on Instagram: "This isn’t something I ever thought I’d be saying but, after 13 years of being together Alex and I have separated.

"Our children are and always will be our number one priority and we would respect privacy for our family at this time."

Earlier this year she admitted that she felt "she'd failed" following the marriage breakdown. Speaking with Emmerdale star Natalie Anderson on her podcast The Capsule in Conversation, Laura admitted that by the end, their “marriage went in separate directions”.

“We are co-parenting, and it works. But even that, you know, I kind of felt like I had failed,” she confessed.

Laura started out on television on children's TV at the age of 18, and has been a familiar face in people's living rooms for over 20 years now.

Asked how she would feel if her children wanted to follow in her footsteps, she admitted she wants them to pursue "something they love".

"I would just say that if I want my children to follow my footsteps... I'm not going to never ever push them into doing what I do because I just think it's very important you've got to do something you love.

"Because if you don't then you're doing it a long time and, what's the point? If they really were passionate about doing it and they wanted to, absolutely I would support them, I would support their careers. But, yeah, I don't know if they will," she said.

A Place In The Sun is on Channel 4 weekdays at 3pm.
