William 'lost trust' in Harry and they 'can only reconcile on one condition', says expert

Whilst Prince William may have lost trust in Prince Harry, some sources have claimed the Duke of Sussex could be willing to begin the process of reconciliation with his family.

A Royal expert has claimed Prince William's trust in Prince Harry and Meghan Markle has gone, suggesting the Sussexes "must apologise" if they want any sort of reconciliation.

In recent months, there has been increased speculation over the possibility of Harry and William becoming closer, and eventually ending their feud. However, Diary Editor of the Daily Mail Richard Eden has claimed before that happens, Harry and Meghan need to make amends - even if this takes place in private.

Mr Eden made the comment on the publication’s Palace Confidential podcast and addressed the lack of trust William has towards his younger brother, following the release of Spare and his tell-all Netflix documentary with Meghan.

He ruminated on the fact that William trusting Harry again may be more difficult, because of the worry that any comments or conversations could later find their way into the public sphere via a book or documentary.

Mr Eden’s comments follow questions over whether the Windsor brothers will eventually reconcile and end their feud after the Gallagher brothers – albeit in very different circumstances – ended theirs.

Mr Eden said: “Since we learnt that Harry had made this unannounced visit, I’ve been speaking to people about…the chances of a reconciliation between the brothers, but everyone really has made the same points that it won’t happen until Harry and Meghan really apologise for everything they have said.

“They need to apologise, at least privately, but also how can there be that reconciliation when William and Catherine just don’t know what will later appear in a TV programme or in a book? Genuinely, once you’ve lost that trust you’ve kind of lost it forever.

“Can you imagine what they were thinking about? Because, in his [Harry’s] memoirs, he had just revealed those intimate conversations that they never in a million years thought would have been published, so there really won’t be any welcome back.”

Whilst some believe the pair may not reconcile, to the extent that Harry might not even be invited to William’s future coronation, sources close to the pair have told the Express that it is not impossible.

The source said: “Harry is open to reconciling with his brother. He knows it won't be an easy task but it is something that can be brought to the table.

"William is not opposed to a reconciliation with his brother at some point, but things would need to start from scratch, a fresh start type scenario, where things from the past are not to be mentioned.”

The claims from the source follow Prince Harry and Prince William both attending the funeral of their uncle Sir Robert Fellowes. Reports suggest that the duo might have been in the same building, but did not talk to each other.

At the time of the service, a source claimed to the Express that there were some hopes of an “intervention” to bring them back to the table to begin the process of healing.

They said: “Everyone is hoping that there might be some kind of intervention from Jane or Charles [Spencer] which will hopefully bring them back together. It will take some time but it is looking like a possibility.”

Also another reported possibility is a return of Harry to the royal fold, over four years after exiting it. On why he is considering coming back across the Atlantic, royal expert Kinsey Schofield ruminated that not only has going to America not necessarily worked out, but that Harry has realised he was an “asset” to the Royal Family.

She ruminated: “He's doing it because Americans did not welcome them in the way that they initially thought they would. I think they've made a lot of missteps over the last few years and they're not having the life that they thought they were going to.

"I don't think the 'American Dream' has come to fruition for them the way that they thought it would and Prince Harry [now] realises that he was a valuable asset as a member of the Royal Family and that really gave him purpose.”
