After his first appearance in public, Prince Louis won the affection of the nation with several displays of boisterous behaviour and boyish disregard for royal protocol during public events.

Whether it was screaming from the Buckingham Palace balcony as planes flew overhead, or shushing his mother with a hand over her mouth, the young Prince often appeared to do as he pleased despite expectations of formality.

One of the lesser-known heart-warming moments the six-year-old delighted onlookers to was during this year's Trooping the Colour.

Having taken some time away from the spotlight during her treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer, Princess Kate made her first public appearance since December 2023 in June of this year.

Prince Louis, as well as the other children, have also taken a step back from the royal spotlight in recent months, given their mum's illness.

The appearance with Princess Kate on the balcony was the first of the year.

Despite the grandure of the occasion, Prince Louis appeared to be getting rather bored by the whole thing. But according to one expert, the young royal's boredom may have helped him swerve a telling off from his mother.

Speaking to the Mirror about this move by Louis, body language expert Adrianne Carter said that this made him avoid a telling off by his mum.

She said: "Louis is getting bored; he's starting to mess with things. This is a sign that Louis is still the lovely and bright personality that we've come to recognise. Louis's big yawn was unspotted by Kate so he was able to give it his all!"

As the ceremony picked up, Louis then started to look like he was enjoying himself - even having a little dance.

She said: "He looks like he's enjoying himself a bit more! Hands behind his back is something he's obviously been told to do, maybe to help him stop fidgeting. It looks like [Princess] Charlotte spotted his little dance and told him to calm it down maybe."
