Prince Harry is extremely unlikely to return to the UK after his friend made it clear the prince’s life was “now in America”.

In a report by the BBC for the Duke of Sussex’s 40th birthday, senior royal correspondent Daniela Relph said that rumours of Harry returning to the Royal Fold were not backed up by any evidence.

According to the royal correspondent, a friend of Harry’s said that although he would like to come over more regularly for work, he would not relocate back to his home country.

The friend told her: “Why would he give up everything he’s achieved there to return here? His life is now in America.”

The correspondent also wrote that Harry does not feel safe in the UK after his police protection was taken away following his exit from the Royal Family in 2020.

Harry has also hesitated to stay in royal residences in recent months over fear of the paparazzi following him around London, something he reportedly has not had to deal with in his new home town of Montecito, California.

According to the BBC correspondent, Harry and wife Meghan Markle have their own security team that enables them to live a “relatively normal existence” with very little photographs taken of them.

The correspondent wrote: “The Montecito circle is exclusive, discreet and rich. It’s provided a lavish refuge for Harry and Meghan and given them a degree of protection from the public spotlight.”

This has meant the couple have been able to visit local markets, take day trips with their children and even attend local bookshop openings.

While Harry said earlier this year that he would like to visit his family when he can amid his father King Charles’ cancer diagnosis, Meghan Markle has not yet shared the same sentiment of returning back to the country.

The duchess was last in the UK two years ago for the late Queen’s funeral and has since spoken openly about her experience with press intrusion while living in the country.

According to a source, the couple have been invited to spend Christmas with the Spencer family and Princess Diana’s brother in the UK this year, however apart from flying visits such as these, the couple are unlikely to leave their Montecito mansion and swap it back for a palace anytime soon.
