The One Show host Alex Jones was visibly emotional as she opened Monday's show with a tribute to Dr Michael Mosley. The TV doctor's body was found on Sunday after he was reported missing by his wife, Clare on Wednesday.

Alex began: "Good evening, we're starting tonight's show with the sad news that we've lost a dear friend and colleague. Dr. Michael Mosley was part of the original lineup of The One Show reporters, who made his first appearance in 2007 and has been a familiar presence on the show ever since."

Jermaine Jenas went on: "Yes, we've already had hundreds of messages from you sharing what a difference that he made to your lives.

"So do please keep them coming in, and we'll read some of them out a bit later on in the show."

In a previous post, The One Show paid a moving tribute to Dr. Mosley on X. Along with a photo of the doctor, it read: "Everyone at The One Show is deeply saddened to hear about our friend and colleague Dr. Michael Mosley. He was a much-loved and hugely respected member of our original team. Our thoughts are very much with his family at this extremely difficult time."

Later on in the show, Alex and Jermaine dedicated a special segment to Dr Mosley.

The presenter told viewers: "Time now to remember our friend and colleague Dr Michael Mosley, who sadly died while on holiday with his wife Clare on the Greek island of Symi.

"His death has been felt by millions of people all around the world who regarded him as their doctor."

Dr Mosley died of natural causes on the day he went missing on the Greek island of Symi, according to police.

His body was found on Sunday in a rocky area near Agia Marina beach after his disappearance was reported on Wednesday.

Greek police spokeswoman Konstantia Dimoglidou told the BBC that an initial post-mortem examination has been carried out, which confirms there were no injuries on his body.

It also estimated that the time of death was around 4pm local time on Wednesday. He had left friends on the island’s Agios Nikolaos beach at around 1.30pm to go for a walk.

Ms Dimoglidou said that the position of his body means he died of natural causes. She also said toxicology and histology reports will take place.

Footage reportedly found by a beach bar at Agia Marina shows what appears to be the TV doctor making his way down a rocky slope close to a fence before he falls out of view.

The One Show airs weekdays at 7pm on BBC One.
