Sky News stalwart Hannah Thomas-Peter is set to embark on a new academic adventure, leaving the newsroom for the hallowed halls of Cambridge University.

After a remarkable 15-year tenure gracing television screens, Hannah shared her departure with heartfelt gratitude, stating: "Personal news klaxon: I'm off to study climate policy @Cambridge_Uni - sad to say goodbye to the truly wonderful people @SkyNews but an exciting new chapter awaits! ".

Colleagues were quick to express their well-wishes, with Jayne Secker lamenting: "We already miss you! " In a similar vein, Anna Botting enthused: "This is brilliant Hannah, what a great thing to do. Wishing you all the very best!" While Tom Clarke chimed in: "So sorry to see you go, Hannah. Exciting move! Look forward to drawing on you even greater climate expertise in future!" (sic)

Andrew Connell added: "Good luck with this big new adventure Hannah. We will miss your energy and enthusiasm!"

Hannah's role at Sky News was multifaceted; she served as the Climate Change Correspondent and covered major stories as the US Correspondent since joining the network in 2009.

The buzz around Hannah's career move comes hot on the heels of another Sky News personality making waves. Just last month, anchor Kay Burley sparked curiosity about her own position on the channel with an enigmatic update, following an unexplained absence just one day after her much-anticipated comeback.

Kay revealed to her fans that she plans to return to her regular duties on May 20, following a brief hiatus to attend a conference at the Irish Embassy. She took to social media, where she shared a montage of herself chatting with journalists at the embassy about her career journey.

The caption read: "Bit of a chat @irishembassyuk in support of @journalistscharity. Find out in my post why the ambassador and I fundamentally disagree."

Interestingly, Kay didn't hold back while discussing her career as a news journalist at the embassy - even acknowledging her errors.

She told her fans in a clip filmed in Hyde Park: "They asked me if I'd ever made a mistake. The answer is yes, of course, I make mistakes every single day. Hopefully, though, I learn from them. The bigger mistake is if you don't learn from your mistakes."

The veteran presenter, aged 63, returned to television after taking several weeks off to support her sister's fight against cancer. Aside from caring for her unwell sister, she also moved houses.

Earlier this month, she updated fans with positive news regarding Jacqueline's health by posting a nostalgic snapshot.

Kay opened up about personal struggles, expressing gratitude to her supporters in a heartfelt social media message: "Thank you to all of you who regularly ask about my baby sister, Jacqueline. She's had her cancer op. It was a big deal but she's as strong as an ox. This was us in January. I hope it will be us next January and the one after that and the one after that ad infinitum."
