Lorraine's Christine Lampard issues statement as show interruption causes chaos

Ellie Simmonds was reporting from Edinburgh, chatting to hardcore Taylor Swift fans who'd been queuing since 5am to catch a glimpse of the songstress at her show.

Presenter Ellie Simmonds was left red-faced after a technical blunder meant that her words cut out during a live broadcast for ITV's Lorraine show. Donning her 'I Love Taylor' t-shirt and a pair of bright pink jeans, the former Strictly Come Dancing star was jumping about nimbly with excitement as she chatted to Taylor Swift fans.

Some had already been queuing for hours to get a coveted front row position at the American singer's show in Edinburgh today. However a puzzled Christine Lampard struggled to hear her when her voice began to cut out.

In the end, she decided to cut the broadcast altogether. "Do you know what, Ellie? I can't hear you as clearly as I want to - and I want to!" she exclaimed.

"We're going to come back to Ellie in a minute when we fix the sound." At least ten minutes passed before Christine was able to reinstate her segment, which had been screened for less than a minute by the time the sound issues kicked in.

By that time, audiences could hear the fans' screams with crystal clarity, as some admitted they'd been standing in line since before 5:00am. When Ellie asked the crowd for a rendition of the song they were most looking forward to, 'Seven', another sound blunder kicked in.

However, this time it merely seemed to be that the sheepish fans were too embarrassed to share their singing voices on live TV.

Ellie also briefly spoke to Carla McCormack, a woman billing herself as a Taylor Swift expert who gave a masterclass on her at Glasgow's Clyde College.

However, it appeared that her chat with her had been severely cut short, due to the time lost when technical issues took place earlier.

During her masterclass, the 38-year-old had given the lowdown on no fewer than ten boyfriends Taylor had called out or alluded to in her songs after breaking up with them.

These included Joe Jonas, Taylor Lautner, John Mayer, Jake Gyllenhaal, Tom Hiddleston and Joe Alwyn as well as three British men - Harry Styles, Calvin Harris and Matty Healy.

She also spoke out ahead of the tour on some of the distinctive traditions Taylor fans, also known as Swifties, have.

These include stacking colourful friendship bracelets - often more than a dozen at a time - on each wrist.

On Instagram, she shared: "We had so much fun at our ultimate @TaylorSwift masterclass... preparing parents who might have drawn a Blank Space at her Edinburgh gig with all the things they need to know."
