Matty Healy 'snubbed' in iconic Taylor Swift song as fans work out who lyrics are about

Taylor Swift has just released her latest album The Tortured Poets Department and one of the tracks, But Daddy I Love Him, has left fans guessing about who it's about.

Taylor Swift's new album is chock full of romantic hints, but one cryptic track is apparently not about Matty Healy, despite what fans have been speculating for months.

The multi-award-winning American pop star unveiled her latest musical masterpiece The Tortured Poets Department in April and one track, But Daddy I Love Him, has been rapidly crowned a firm fan favourite.

The tune sparked rumours it was inspired by her brief fling with The 1975 rock star Matty, whom she courted for just a month last year.

However, an uncovered vintage interview reveals the young Taylor may have actually yelled the lyric at her dad during a "teenage tantrum".

This implies the song might chronicle a high school romance rather than her short-term fling with the British crooner.

In a 2008 interview that's recently resurfaced on PopSugar, Taylor recounts penning her mega-hit Love Story.

She shared, "This song, I wrote it right after my one epic teenage tantrum that I ever threw in my whole life.

"And I remember screaming something like 'But daddy, I love him!' and running out and storming into my room and slamming the door and then I sat down on the floor and wrote this song."

As the vintage interview re-emerges, many are citing it as definitive proof that Taylor's crooning doesn't refer to Healy.

In her latest album, Taylor presents a ballad about a forbidden love with a man she shares intense "chemistry" with, despite his unpopularity in her hometown and with her parents.

Swifties have speculated that the song, potentially hinting at controversial figure Matty, narrates a tale of their disapproved romance.

However, Taylor's devotees also suspect that this newest tune could be an ode to her existing relationship with Travis Kelce.

In the lyrics, she croons: "Now I'm dancing in my dress in the sun and / Even my daddy just loves him / I'm his lady, and oh my God / You should see your faces."

There's also reference to a thrilling adolescent love affair intertwined with aspects of football, leading fans to posit this as a nod to her support for Kelce during his NFL games for Kansas City Chiefs, and notably the Super Bowl.

Taylor and Travis made their relationship public last September, not long after rumours began swirling.
