Lee Mack, the witty host of ITV's The 1% Club, was left speechless when a contestant cheekily claimed to be "a coke dealer," in a bid to scoop the show's top prize. The hilarious exchange aired on Saturday, June 1, with Lee, 55, probing contestant Caroline about her line of work as she eyed the massive £100k prize.

Despite the straightforward inquiry, her deadpan response was not what he anticipated. Following one of the brain-teasers, Lee asked: "What do you do, Caroline?" to which she coolly responded: "I'm a coke dealer."

Lee appeared utterly stunned by her bold claim, but quickly retorted with his trademark humour. "Do you know what? I really hope there's no gag and that's just it. That's you, the most brazen drug dealer in the world," he quipped.

But Caroline quickly clarified, revealing her actual employment with Coca-Cola: "It is a beverage, not pharmaceutical because I work for the biggest Coke company in the world."

The 1% Club has been causing quite a stir lately, especially after Daniel O'Halloran from Rock Ferry bagged an incredible £99k on the show in May, 2023, following his mother's encouragement to take part in the contest.

"I was quite confident in getting to the latter stages of the show, but I never in my wildest dreams imagined taking home that much money" he disclosed.

"I thought if I got to £10,000 with no money to fall back on, I'd take the £10,000 and wouldn't gamble."

Daniel had initially resolved to play it safe but threw caution to the wind when he decided to tackle the £99,000 question, leading to an unexpected victory, saying: "I lost control of my body.

"I was running around celebrating on stage in total shock. I never thought I'd be standing there on the show, let alone winning it."

Yet, Daniel faced a challenge after his win, struggling to keep the news a secret, despite an overwhelming desire to celebrate openly.

He said: "It was very difficult, there were some moments I nearly blurted it out or my family would ask me and I couldn't keep the smile on my face. I only told my grandma and a few friends."

The 1% Club airs Saturday evenings on ITV and ITVX.
