Loose Women’s Gloria Hunniford ‘snaps’ in four-word response to Denise Welch interruption

Gloria Hunniford was forced to silence Denise Welch after she attempted to interrupt her anecdote on Loose Women. The ITV panel were discussing perming techniques when the Rip Off Britain star issued the four-word outburst.

On Thursday (May 30) Gloria, 84, and Denise, 66, were joined on the mid-afternoon mainstay by Kaye Adams, 61, and Dame Kelly Holmes, 54. In the show’s opening segment, the quartet discussed the return of the perm.

After touching on the news that Victoria Beckham’s daughter Harper had “begged” to be allowed to sport the hairstyle, Gloria recounted her experiences with the popular waving method.

“It’s archaic when I look back because we used to be latched to this machine,” Gloria began. However, her story was soon interrupted by Denise though, as she wanted to clarify whether the appliance the star was talking about was a dedicated “perm machine”.

Trying to ignore the Tyneside personality, Gloria batted her hand and said: “Hang on a sec”. The snap drew an incredulous round of laughter from the ITV audience while Denise made a mocking shocked face.

Beside her, Kelly smiled at Gloria’s silencing methods while Kaye could be seen grinning in the background. Attempting to keep the peace, the Northern Irish broadcaster said: “You’re too young to remember this machine so look at it.”

Kaye then attempted to interrupt the conversation by remarking that the contraption looked like a “milking machine”, before Gloria ploughed on with her conversation for a third time. Following the incident, viewers took to social media to have their say.

One user of X, formerly known as Twitter, took to the platform and wrote: “Denise is dying to interrupt Gloria #loosewomen.”

“Denise does not stop f****ng interrupting people #LooseWomen,” typed a second.

Another said: “Gloria is so rude!! #loosewomen.”

“Can Denise let people speak?????? Yes we know u went on a cruise!!!! #loosewomen,” commented a fourth. (sic)

Earlier this year Gloria, who joined Loose Women in 2014, opened up about how she now feels about working on the show after a decade at the helm.

Speaking to Express.co.uk, the presenter said: “I really like it, I like the camaraderie amongst the women. I like that we can talk about different subjects all the time – some of them fun and some of them serious, which is a good balance to get.

“Sometimes you tend to forget that you are on live TV because it’s four women just discussing whatever the issue is, whether it’s light or whether it’s a heavy subject.”
