Race Across the World enthusiasts were abuzz with excitement following a revelation about the current instalment of the hit series, just as the grand finale looms on the horizon.

The latest season of the BBC sensation kicked off last month, captivating audiences with the adventures of several duos navigating their way through eastern Asia in an epic 15,000-kilometre dash across multiple nations. The duo that first crosses the finish line on Indonesia's Lombok Island will pocket a cool £20,000.

With seven episodes down, only four pairs are left vying for the prize: pals Alfie and Owen, siblings Betty and James, mother-daughter duo Eugenie and Isabel, and partners Stephen and Viv. The crowning of the victors is set for the series' concluding episode this Wednesday.

In a thrilling update before the eighth episode, it was disclosed that aficionados will be treated to an exclusive peek behind the curtain with a special episode airing post-finale, promising to serve as a reunion for the contestants.

Teasing the extra content, the show's social media account posted: "For the first time ever, we're showing you how the race comes to life! See what happens behind the scenes in the #RaceAcrossTheWorld reunion, Wednesday at 10pm on BBC iPlayer, straight after the grand finale," reports the Mirror.

The news has sparked a flurry of reactions from fans across social media platforms, including X, previously known as Twitter. One user posted: "Always wanted to see behind the scenes!"

Meanwhile, another viewer chimed in: "I'm looking forward to seeing how it's made."

A third person enthusiastically shared: "Absolutely cannot wait for this."

Another comment read: "Always been interested about this."

Further responding to the broadcaster's announcement, one user wrote: "I will definitely be watching this."

Commenting on the news, one person tweeted: "This series really got me thinking about the planning that goes into it. Must be months of researchers checking routes, finding suitable places for 'work', accessibility of accommodation, etc."

Another person expressed their interest: "I love this show and am equally interested in what goes on behind the scenes, from an education viewpoint it's great for kids to see the skill and hard work involved, the editing alone with all the footage to go through is mind-boggling! More please!"

According to the synopsis: "Six months after finishing their race across the world, the five intrepid teams are reunited in London for the first time.

"They reminisce about the 51-day exhilarating adventure that started in the northernmost part of Japan and covered 15,000 kilometres across seven countries, taking them through some of the world's most scenic, populous and remote places to reach the finish line."

The episode description promises even further: "Unseen moments will be shown, and shocking revelations made, as these intrepid travellers reveal how they coped with the trials and tribulations of this life-affirming race and the impact it has had on them, their lives and their relationships."
