Race Across the World has left BBC viewers on the edge of their seats as the competitive duos continue to face challenges beyond their imaginations. They started their journey in Sapporo, Japan, and are making their way to the final checkpoint in Indonesia tonight.

A reunion special will take place one the winners have been crowned, with the teams having travelled more than 15,000 kilometres across Eastern Asia in a bid to win the £20,000 cash prize. All they had with them was the cash equivalent of the airfare from Sapporo to Lombok.

With Brydie and Sharon knocked out of the race, friends Owen and Alfie remain along with brother and sister Betty and James, mother and daughter Eugenie and Isabel, and husband and wife Stephen and Viv. Alfie and Owen continue to be the front-runners, but they only have a 12-minute lead on Eugenie and Isabel.

Viewers hit out at the mother and daughter duo after they stole Stephen and Viv's taxi during the latest leg. Will karma catch up with them in the end?

Express.co.uk has all you need to know about how to get involved in future seasons of the show. The BBC has issued an update on the upcoming season's applications.

The BBC has said applications for the next season of Race Across the World have now closed, as of May 12.

However, there is good news in the fact the show is returning for a fifth season, which will most likely air next year in 2025.

Viewers keen to take part in future seasons can visit www.bbc.co.uk/showsandtours/take-part, where they can select a show they are interested in and keep an eye on when applications re-open.

For future reference, the show is open to anyone, and the BBC explained why people should get involved.

After thanking those who had applied for the upcoming season, they said: "This experience is open to all, whether you’re a seasoned traveller or total novice.

"We want to hear what undertaking a trip like this would mean to you, and with a cash prize at stake, what lengths you would go to to win.

"Maybe you’re looking to change something in your life? Or are keen to share the journey with someone special like a family member, best friend, or someone you’ve lost touch with.

"You may even have a very personal reason for wanting to travel at this time in your life or explore a particular part of the world."

With previous seasons having aired in March or April, it is likely the 2025 series will air sometime in the spring.
