Meghan Markle's new brand disaster is unravelled as a key issue has been revealed by one royal expert.

American Riviera Orchard, which Meghan revealed back in March, has suffered a setback after her US trademark application was rejected.

It was recently revealed that the Duchess has now been given three months to respond to the "nonfinal officer action" issued by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

This has led to experts discussing what advice Meghan has had in terms of her brand, and it wasn't given prior to the brand's reveal earlier this year.

Speaking on the latest Palace Confidential, the Daily Mail's royal editor Rebecca English said: "Obviously she's gone to trademark this in America [and] has been told very flatly [that] you can't do that because America Riviera is actually widely known as a particular part of California in which they live and said you basically can't trademark a geographical place."

After being asked why advice on this wasn't provided to the Duchess sooner, Ms English said: "That begs the question, what kind of advice they're getting and is it the right one because you think these are the kind of Is that should have been dotted and the Ts that should have been crossed."

English also claimed that she has a "theory" over why the launch was supposedly launched earlier than it was said to have been planned - and appeared to put the blame on the Daily Mail's Richard Eden, who wrote a previous aricle on the upcoming reveal of the branding of American Riviera Orchard.

Although not blaming Richard entirely, she claimed that this likely made Meghan "rush" her launch.

Mr Eden, who also appeard on the episode, said that this shows the "lack of savvy people" that both the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have surrounding them.

Express.co.uk recently revealed that Meghan is considering a backup name for her lifestyle brand American Riviera Orchard (ARO) if her team are unable to get it across the line.

According to a well-placed source, the recent rejection of the ARO name by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, which denied Markle’s bid to use the name in a filing dated to Aug. 31, has supposedly sent her team into a "spin".

The source added: "The team are thinking of backups as we speak just in case. They've been put into a bit of a last-minute spin but they're not too worried because they are aware that Kim K also changed her brand name after launch and it still did amazingly well."
