Real reason King Charles was so 'distracted' at Trooping the Colour decoded by expert

King Charles was joyous but also appeared "deep in thought" at Trooping the Colour this year, a body language expert has claimed.

Trooping the Colour: King Charles heads towards parade

King Charles had moments where he appeared "distracted" during Saturday's Trooping the Colour ceremony, a body language expert has claimed.

The Royal Family put on a united front last weekend as they appeared all together for the King's second official birthday parade.

One of the highlights was the Princess of Wales's first public appearance this year, after having been previously diagnosed with cancer. Princess Kate is, like King Charles, currently undergoing treatment for her illness.

Now body language expert Darren Stanton has analysed the King's movements during the event and concluded that while the monarch did seem joyous, he did display some "sombre" signs too.

Speaking on behalf of Betfair Slingo, he said: "Charles has displayed examples of feeling joy, again with genuine smiles and instances of laughter when he could relax a bit more - no doubt pleased to be reunited with and supported by his family - but we also sense some sombre signs from him.

"He’s deep in thought and he appears to be quite distracted from time to time, which is understandable given the great importance of events like these to his late mother Queen Elizabeth."

Meanwhile, he praised Queen Camilla, saying she didn't appear "distracted like Charles" but looked "comfortable" and was "in control of her movements".

Mr Stanton explained: "Camilla came across as stoic and a power figure. I get a sense she stepped in to lead the way for Charles when he was feeling nervous.

"There were signs of Camilla holding a lot of dominance, particularly by holding herself upright with her arms by her side and standing tall.

"She didn’t appear distracted like Charles - she looked comfortable standing still and was in control of her movements. She always remains composed and is a reassuring figure for Charles.

"When Charles was clutching onto his sword, it seems this was his way of reassuring himself. It gave him something to focus on with everything going on at that moment."
