A charity shop find with a Princess Diana engraving on has confused Royal Family fans.

Members of the r/RoyalFamily forum on Reddit were perplexed by the goblet, which bares the inscription of "HRH Prince Charles" and "Lady Diana Spencer".
The silver goblet, dated to 1981, was shared by user Current-Scar-940. They wrote: "Found in charity shop, what is it?"
Answers soon followed, with many suggesting it was a "commemorative goblet". The original poster was interested to see how much it would fetch at auction, prompting royal mug collectors to chime in.

"I have a large collection of royal mugs and that don't really have much resale value at all," one user wrote. To which the original poster replied: "Fairs enough lol... it's mainly a gift for a friend who's into royal monarchy and such."

The goblet featured in the Reddit post does not appear to be of a rare or expensive variety.
Similar goblets can be found on Etsy and eBay for anything between a few pounds and £20. Other users advised checking for any potential markings, which could indicate a more valuable find.
One wrote:"Probably just a commerative cup but check the bottom for any hallmarks or markings and look those up online. Those will tell you what the cup is made out of and what company made it. [sic]"

Another suggested the goblet could be a "wedding souvinir [sic]". Princess Diana and King Charles were married July 18, 1981, so the goblet - with 1981 etched on the front - could certainly be a souvenir of their wedding.
The goblet also features the Prince of Wales' feathers, the heraldic badge of the heir to the British throne. The badge consists of three white ostrich feathers encircled by a gold coronet. It also bears the German motto "Ich bien" meaning "I serve".
