Queen Camilla has wowed royal fans in a gorgeous black and white floral dress as she visits Christ Church C of E Primary School in Chelsea to celebrate their Literary Festival.

Until July 5th, the school will host its own Literary Festival, in which children will be sponsored by family and friends to read as many books as they can.

The Queen, who is known for her keen interest in literacy and reading, was in high spirits as she was welcomed into a reception class and a Year 4 class.

The royal, who will celebrate her 77th birthday next month, wore a floral dress with white piping by one of her favourite designer's Fiona Clare.

During her visit to the reception class, Her Majesty heard about the school’s ‘Shepherd and Sheep’ reading initiative.

This initiative allocates new pupils starting school to be their ‘shepherd’ who acts as a friend and role-model throughout the children’s first year at school.

Joining a Year 4 class, the Queen took part in a felt making workshop and speak to children about their favourite books.

In the school’s garden, the royal was greeted by children and teachers at a literary fair. The Queen then witnessed the positive impact reading has brought to the students and had the opportunity to discuss the Literary Festival at the poetry corner and book stand.

Before her departure, the Queen joined a short assembly to hear the school choir perform and hear from two students who spoke about their favourite books.

The Queen prides herself on being an avid reader and has a strong interest in highlighting the importance of literacy.

She has long been recognised as a supporter of literacy in the UK - as well as internationally.

During her time as Duchess of Cornwall, prior to King Charles ascending the throne in 2022, Camilla became Patron of several organisations which promote and support literacy.

These included the National Literacy Trust, First Story, Coram Beanstalk and Booktrust.

The Queen stepped out alongside King Charles on Tuesday to welcome the Japanese Emperor and Empress to the UK.

During the first day of their three-day visit, the King and Queen exchanged some lavish gifts with the couple.

The Japanese Emperor and Empress gifted the British monarch and Queen with a signed photograph of themselves in a silver frame with the chrysanthemum crest of the Imperial House. In exchange, the King and Queen gave them a very similar gift - a signed photograph of themselves in a silver frame engraved with their joint cypher.
