Charles Spencer's ex-wife breaks silence on shock divorce in rare social media post
Charles Spencer revealed earlier this month that he and his third wife Karen are separating after 13 years of marriage.

Charles Spencer's soon-to-be ex wife Karen has broken her silence regarding the recent announcement of her divorce, as she shared a telling message on Instagram.
On June 8 Princess Diana's younger brother confirmed their separation to the Mail on Sunday, as he said: "It is immensely sad. I just want to devote myself to all my children, and to my grandchildren, and I wish Karen every happiness in the future."
Now his spouse has spoken out on her social media after it was reported that Earl Spencer is "becoming close to" Dr Car Jarman, his co-host on history podcast The Rabbit Hole Detectives.
On June 21 Karen posted: "Just wanted to say that I have been overwhelmed by the messages of love and support. Thank you, it has really meant a lot to me. I’m just processing at the moment. Will come back to you soon."
She also shared some pictures of the Summer Solstice celebrations at Althorp, the Spencer family estate, with the caption: "Thought I'd share a few pics from last night's summer solstice gathering."

The 52-year-old married Charles in 2011, the year after they met on a blind date in Los Angeles and they later welcomed their daughter Lady Charlotte Diana in 2012.
Karen is originally from Canada and already had two daughters from a previous relationship with Mark Gordon. She is the founder of Whole Child, a charity which helps abandoned and orphaned children.
Speaking previously to The Sunday Times, Charles said: "I do remember when I met her - she happens to be very beautiful, but the most interesting thing was what she did. That definitely resonated with me. I suppose my childhood was very privileged but very bumpy, emotionally."

Earl Spencer has been under increased psychological strain following the publication of his recent memoir A Very Private School, in which he detailed the physical and sexual abuse he endured while at boarding school.
In the book Charles revealed he was abused by an assistant matron during his time at the school in the 1970s, but has only recently spoken out publicly.
As well as his daughter with Karen, the Earl has six other children from his previous two marriages and was stepfather to her daughters Emma and Kate.
Charles Spencer shares Lady Kitty Spencer, twins Lady Eliza and Lady Amelia Spencer and Louis Spencer, Viscount Althorp, with his ex-wife Victoria Aitken.
He is also the father to The Hon. Edmund Spencer and Lady Lara Spencer, with his second wife Caroline Freud, although he is not close to all of his offspring.
The Earl did not attend the weddings of Kitty and Amelia in 2021 and 2023 respectively, as it was revealed that their relationships with him had "cooled".
