United would love to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham, though the north London giants are adamant they won’t let their prized asset leave.
Victor Osimhen is a potential alternative, though Napoli have slapped a huge £130m price tag on their talisman.
And Dusan Vlahovic and Rasmus Hojlund have been linked amid uncertainty over their futures at Juventus and Atalanta respectively.
Speaking earlier this month, meanwhile, John O’Shea opened up on Mount.
He said: "He's definitely shown over the last few years in the Premier League and in Europe the quality he possesses.
"And if you think how he's performed for England too, he's definitely a player you'd be looking at.

"And if they can get business like that done early, it's a fantastic addition and he will add to the goals in terms of creating and scoring them himself too.
"So if that is a done deal, it's a great bit of business early, because look at Chelsea, Chelsea have nearly three squads, there will be plenty of players coming and going in the summer as well."
Asked if Mount would be a regular starter, O’Shea continued: "I think he would hope to be.
"But that's the beauty of challenging for all the major honours, you need that really competitive squad, I think the big thing is you have to trust the manager, Ten Hag.
"I heard it mentioned recently how he was going to have a big part to play in the recruitment.
"I'm hoping that if he's got his eyes on him [Mount], then he knows what he wants and what he needs to get back challenging at the top of the table and back in the Champions League as well."
