Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa has been urged to sign defender Ben White on a permanent transfer, as both Liverpool and Arsenal look to recruit the Brighton centre-back for the new season, with the youngster claimed to be a certainty for the England squad in the future.

Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa should make Ben White his first signing of the summer, if the Whites gain promotion to the Premier League, claimed former Leeds striker Noel Whelan. White has been a key part of Bielsa’s squad this season, having arrived from Brighton and Hove Albion on a season-long loan.

“He’s got every kind of attribute you want from a centre-half in the modern game.
“The only problem is that there are a lot of other clubs who want him, and a lot of other clubs who could be playing in Europe, which could be a key decision for him.”
White has started all 37 Championship games for Leeds this season.
The only match he wasn’t named in Bielsa’s starting XI all season was a Carabao Cup clash against Stoke City, where he was used as a half-time substitute.
