Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa has made a decision on the future of loan goalkeeper Illan Meslier, with the Whites ready to complete the permanent transfer of the Lorient youngster, as he believes the Frenchman could be a long-term replacement for Kiko Casilla.

Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa is preparing to activate Illan Meslier’s buy-out clause in his Lorient contract. The move would see the Elland Road loanee make his switch to Leeds permanent, after impressing since his arrival last summer.

Casilla’s absence from the squad handed Meslier a chance to show his worth in the first team.
He has now featured in two Championship matches, keeping clean sheets in both.
Meslier’s only previous appearance for Leeds came in the FA Cup.
He was named in the starting XI for the trip to the Emirates Stadium to face Arsenal, in what was a 1-0 defeat.

Leeds currently sit top of the Championship table, and are in red hot form.
They’re seven points clear of the play-off places, with just nine matches remaining in the league season.
Leeds have won their last five Championship matches, without conceding a single goal.
During that time, they’ve scored nine goals of their own, while Patrick Bamford also ended his goal drought last weekend, in the 2-0 win over Huddersfield Town.
