Everton 'didn't defend well' in Arsenal defeat says Ancelotti
Everton lost 3-2 to Arsenal at the Emirates on Sunday and Toffees boss Carlo Ancelotti feels problems at the back was the reason why they suffered a defeat at the Emirates. The Italian felt his side attacked well during the game but was disappointed with the manner in which they conceded.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin gave Everton the best possible start to the game when his overhead kick, from a Gylfi Sigurdsson free-kick, found the back of the net after just 49 seconds.
However, the Gunners fought back and scored two goals, with Eddie Nketiah’s volley levelling the score in the 27th minute, before Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang curled the ball past Everton keeper Jordan Pickford after running onto a through ball.
"To be good you have to attack well, which we did, and defend well, which we didn't. So I cannot be satisfied with this,” Ancelotti said.
“If you want to win here against a strong team you have to defend well and you have to attack well.

“One cross that we are not in a good position defensively, then the second goal was a ball in between and there was no pressure on the ball.
“What can I say? After that in the second half I thought offensively it was really good and we were really dangerous.
“We had two fantastic strikers in front and we have to use this, because it's not easy to score two goals away.
“The good thing of this game is that we are really clear on what we have to do.”
The defeat means Arsenal leapfrogged Everton into 9th, with the Toffees now sitting 11th in the table.
With 11 Premier League games remaining they are still only eight-points off fourth-placed Chelsea.
However, Everton now have a difficult run of games coming up. First they host Manchester United at Goodison Park, before an away trip to Chelsea and then a Merseyside derby against Liverpool at home.
