Liverpool transfer target Timo Werner has been issued a stern warning by RB Leipzig boss Julian Nagelsmann after the striker said he felt "very proud" to have been linked with a move to the Premier League leaders. Werner’s comments came after his penalty helped Leipzig beat Tottenham 1-0 in their Champions League clash on Wednesday night.

"It's a pleasure but I know that Liverpool have a lot of good players and I have to improve myself, to learn much more things to get on this level to play there."
However, these remarks have not gone down well at Leipzig.
Nagelsmann was quick to warn the young German that he would not enjoy the same status under Jurgen Klopp as he currently does at the Bundesliga side.

“It would be more difficult for Timo Werner to play at Liverpool than at Leipzig”, Nagelsmann told German publication Sport Bild.
“He will not get the status he has here in the first few years and I tell him that too.
“The boys are seeing how we are developing and how much potential we have. We don’t leave anyone, who helps us, defenceless.”
If Liverpool were to sign Werner it would leave Klopp with a selection dilemma up front.
The German coach has consistently kept Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah as his main attacking trio, and it is unclear how long, if at all, Werner would be willing to play as a back-up forward.
