Nigel Farage joined Nicky Campbell’s BBC Radio 5 show to discuss his plans for the “climate emergency” but things quickly took a tense turn.

After the presenter admitted he was “really into science,” he challenged the Reform UK leader on his plans for climate change.

Nicky told the politician: “It says on your prospectus that ‘CO2 is essential for photosynthesis to enable plant growth. CO2 represents 0.02 percent of the atmosphere, the average garden greenhouse that three times more.’”

He then slammed: “Nigel Farage, you will have to change this when you publish this because this is like something you find on a dodgy American link on YouTube,” and called the stat “scientific hogwash.”

As Nicky continued to break down his science in his manifesto, the pair continued to share back and forth before Nigel hit back: “Come on, you want the argument.”

This claim came after the party leader stated: “I’m not going to have any debate on the science, all I do know is that man produces about three percent of the CO2 produced in the world, every year.”

As Nicky pointed out: “That’s a vital three percent,” Nigel continued: “It is nuts to call CO2 a poison and that is all I will say on the science. “

He then shifted the topic and continued: “What I will say is perhaps more important is this, net zero is deindustrializing our country.”

Nicky chuckled in disbelief as he hit back: “It's not more important because of what’s happening to our planet.”

To which Nigel advised him to “have a listen,” However Nicky quipped: “Send me some YouTube links,” which prompted Nigel to exclaim: “No, no I'm not arguing the science with you.

“I’m arguing the impact of what we are doing, which is an enormous act of economic self-harm.”

The radio presenter then inserted: “And if we don’t do it?” Nigel answered: “We’re irrelevant.”

“But we’re global leaders, we’re on the cutting edge of technology,” he added as the politician hit back: No we’re not.”

Nigel explained: “If you have a look at China, India, and Indonesia with their 250 coal-fired power station, you realise that actually what we’ve done hasn’t benefitted the planet at all.”

While Nigel debated: “They’re looking to us for technology,” the Reform Party leader claimed: “They’re laughing at us.”
