King Charles has been listed as the buyer of a stunning £5.1m apartment in New York City as it "will become the official residence for Canada's consul general" in the city, it has been reported.

The King, 75, is Canada's Head of State. The apartment was the last one to be sold in the historic Steinway Hall building and was joined in 2021 by an additional 1,428-foot residential tower.

The home boasts three bedrooms, as well as four-and-a-half bathrooms. It is being sold by Corcoran and was built in the city in 1925.

Robert McCubbing - senior trade commissioner and director of trade and investment - said that the King's purchase was "for use as the Official Residence for the Consulate General of Canada in New York", as reported by the NY Post.

As reported by HELLO!, as well as south-facing windows, the spacious living room features "custom smoke-gray oak floors in a parquet pattern".

The stunning home also features an adjacent dining room, a separate kitchen, and a spacious study.

The main bedroom offers bright southeastern views. It also boats a large walk-in closet and a free-standing copper soaking tub handcrafted by William Holland.

The other two bedrooms, much like the primary one, feature their own en-suite bathroom.

As well as the standard rooms, the home also features some impressive feature - such as an 82-foot two-lane swimming pool with private cabanas. These are complete with a separate sauna and treatment rooms and "double-height fitness center with mezzanine terrace, private dining room and chef's catering kitchen".

The purchase could also be seen a huge step in potentially healing his ongoing rift with his youngest son, Prince Harry.

Harry and his wife Meghan Markle announced their plans to step down as senior working royals in 2020.

The couple now reside in Montecito with their two children - Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3.
